Die-cutting Essentials 36 is on sale today!

Issue 36 of Die-cutting Essentials is on sale NOW – and this month we’re thrilled with this incredible versatile FREE 17-piece Underwater Friends die set.

This year-round die set is amazing for so many different projects, and features the dies you need to create gorgeous all-occasion cards for your loved ones using a range of techniques.

First up, Hunkydory did us some magical makes with their new Moonstone Playful Pixie dies. All products used in these two cards are from Hunkydory unless otherwise stated.

MATERIALS

white 6”-square card blank

Purple Adorable Scorable Colour Family cardstock

Ink Me! cardstock

Midnight Black Mirri Card

Antique Linen, Victorian Velvet, Seedless Preserves, Chipped Sapphire, Black Soot, Squeezed Lemon & Forest Moss Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink

Moonstone Twilight Forest Playful Pixies die set

SIMPLY MAKE

1 Cut a 15x7cm piece of Ink Me! Cardstock and score at 2cm and 4cm lengthways.

2 Fold along the score lines and adhere the largest panel to the bottom of the card front as shown.

3 Cover the front of the card and the front panel of the stepper with purple Adorable Scorable cardstock.

4 Cut a piece of Ink Me! cardstock slightly smaller than the card front and mask a small circle for the sun using a circle die.

5 Blend Black Soot, Seedless Preserves, Victorian Velvet and Chipped Sapphire ink together to form the sky.

6 Remove the mask and colour the sun using Squeezed Lemon ink. Attach the inked panel to the centre of the card front.

7 Cut a hill from Ink Me! cardstock, colour using Forest Moss and Black Soot ink and attach as shown.

8 Die-cut all the elements from black Mirri Card and affix them to the card front.

SIMPLY MAKE

1 Emboss an 8” square of light purple cardstock and adhere to the card front.

2 Take an 8”-long piece of dark purple cardstock, tear down the length of it and affix to the left-hand side of the card front.

3 Matt two identical sheets from the paper pad onto a slightly wider piece of Midnight Black Mirri Card.

4 Die-cut the elements from the black Mirri Card and build the scene, securing some using 3D foam pads and some with glue.

5 Affix three black gems in the top-left corner to finish.

Card Making Magic The Christina Collection Wave 3 Nesting Pennants die set

SIMPLY MAKE

1 Fold the lilac cardstock in half along the short side, place the largest die from the Pennants set over the fold and cut.  This will give you a tent-fold card that stands by itself.

2 Add the Flourish stencil to this card blank.

3 With the seventh and eighth largest dies, cut another piece in mint green. This will give you a pennant with the cross-stitched edge to it.

4 Using one of the smaller dies, cut two pieces in lilac and add these so that they appear to be hinges at the top of the fold as shown, trimming as needed.

5 Stamp the ‘happy birthday’ onto white cardstock and lightly ink with the Flourish stencil.

6 Die-cut with the scalloped edged sixth largest die. Add this over the two little hinges, and layer with 3D foam pads in between

7 Add a bow of baker’s twine bow to the top left-hand corner and dot with Nuvo crystal drops.

Card Making Magic The Christina Collection Complete card 7 box die set

Card Making Magic The Christina Collection Wave 3 embossing folder, die & stamp sets

SIMPLY MAKE

1 Create the card blank from the box die set in dark green cardstock.

2 Die-cut the stitched mat in a paler green, then cut another layer in white.

3 Using the Leafy embossing folder run two of the green inks across the raised areas and Letterpress in your machine.

4 Highlight the leaves with green pens and add shading at the base.

5 Dot the glue pen randomly on the leaves and allow it to go tacky, then add the gilding flakes and press firmly. Layer these onto the base card.

6 Stamp the verse and die-cut it with the sixth largest Scalloped Pennant die.

7 Layer it onto lighter green cardstock and fussy-cut around it, then repeat with the darker green cardstock.

8 Affix to the base card with 3D foam pads then dot with the Nuvo drops and allow to dry.

Card Making Magic The Christina Collection Complete Card & Box Die Set

Card Making Magic The Christina Collection Wave 3 embossing folder, die & stamp sets

SIMPLY MAKE

1 Create the card blank from the Complete Card and Box Die Set.

2 Cut the Stitched matt in white cardstock and emboss using the Basket Weave folder.

3 Layer onto the gold card.

4 Fussy-cut a 4¼ x 5½” panel by hand and emboss with the Flourish folder, then layer onto more gold card.

5 Using the sixth largest Nesting Rectangle die, cut a scalloped layer in white cardstock.

6 Letterpress this by adding Versamark to the lowered side of the folder and then heating gold embossing powder. Matt this onto gold card.

7 Layer all together and wrap with gold ribbon before adding to the card front.

8 Stamp the sentiment and with the third largest die, cut it out and layer onto gold card.

9 Offset the sentiment on the front and add with 3D foam pads.

10 Add the bow with hot glue and attach the bow centre as shown.

Card Making Magic The Christina Collection Wave 2 Beautiful Butterflies Stencil

SIMPLY MAKE

1 Die-cut two of the largest ovals from green cardstock.

2 Score the top of one and affix to the other as shown to form the card blank. On the same piece, trim the bottom of the card straight to make it stand.

3 With the sixth and seventh largest dies, cut both layers in pink and lightly ink with the Butterflies stencil along the outer edges.

4 Layer onto the card blank with 3D foam pads.

5 Stamp the onto pink cardstock and cut it out with the third largest die, then off-set it onto the other layers.

6 Brush over the sentiment with the Glitter Gloss Pen and add flowers and pearls as needed.
