Simply Cards & Papercraft 176 is on sale next week
Issue 176 of Simply Cards & Papercraft hits the shelves on the 19th April and we’ve fallen head over heels with the free Teacup Garden die and stamp set.
As we worked on issue 176, we’ve apparently hit spring at long last – but the weather doesn’t seem to be aware of this little fact! But as Easter has been and gone, there is no getting away from the fact it’s spring – and so we bring you this delightful die and stamp set.
The stunning Teacup Garden die and stamp set offers you a 4-piece die set and 15 co-ordinating stamps – the elegant stamp designs and simple but striking concept makes it a must-have set for your craft stash.
The free gift card examples in the magazine cater for all tastes – whether it’s Simonne Clay bold and beautiful card designs or Helen Griffin’s fabulously elegant off-the-page gift ideas, we’ve got something for everyone.

The issue is jam-packed with fabulous ideas from technique-filled makes where we guide you through learning new skills such as floating die-cut panels, to card samples focusing on new releases from some of your favourite companies, including Crafter’s Companion, Stampin’ Up! and Lavinia Stamps.
As usual, we’ve provided so much inspiration that we just couldn’t squeeze it into the magazine. So, we’ve got a handful of bonus makes right here for you.
Inside this issue, we’ve also tackled finding alternative uses for one of our many staple stash items – sentiment stamps! Let’s be honest, we’ve all got hundreds of them and we use each one now and again, so we were eager to find a way to use more of them… more often! We tasked Christine Smith with creating multi-coloured background panels focussing on sentiment stamps!
She even provided a simple-to-follow illustrated step-by-step guide, which we though we’d share with you here…
HOW TO: create build backgrounds using sentiment stamps
1 Place a random selection of sentiment stamps all over a panel of white cardstock, spacing them out nicely as these will all be the same colour. Pick the stamps up on the lid of the stamping platform and stamp using yellow ink.
2 Clean your stamps, then place them into the gaps to start filling in the background. Pick up these stamps using the lid of the platform and stamp in pink ink. Repeat with red ink.
3 Continue to add as many layers in various colours as desired. You can even mix it up by adding heat embossing too!
This fun cards showcases this background stamping technique using your sentiment stamps perfectly…

1 Follow the illustrated step-by-step pictures above to create the stamped background, time using love and best wishes-themed sentiments.
2 As an extra addition to the background, pick a scripty love stamp and randomly stamp across the background, stamping in VersaMark ink and heat embossing with sparkly gold embossing powder.
3 Stamp the focal images onto white cardstock, colour with Copic markers and fussy-cut
4 Stamp and heat-emboss the main sentiment using gold sparkly embossing powder too and trim to fit across the card front.
5 Add the stamped background panel to the card front and arrange images onto it to create a scene using a mix of 3D foam pads and acrylic glue to secure.
6 Affix the sentiment strip across the card front using 3D foam pads to add extra dimension.
