Die-cutting Essentials 45 bonus Cricut project
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
In issue 45, our good friends at Cricut have given us the inspiration for this gorge countdown sign, above, as well as a Champagne flute to sparkle, photography props for the inevitable midnight selfies and more!
But one of our favourite projects has to be the hairband to end all festivities – if you’re into ‘deely’ boppers, this is one for you.
Add some fun to your New Year’s Eve outfit with this shimmering star display cut using the Cricut Explore Air™/ Air 2™ / Maker™and the online software, Design Space™.

1 Connect to your Design Space™ account and search for and a select the ‘NYE Star Crown’. Click customise to resize or change the number of stars; otherwise click ‘Make it’.
NOTE: This project creates 10 two sided stars.
2 Cut the images from the gold shimmer paper, selecting the appropriate setting from the material setting list.
TIP:Use the brayer to apply the resource to the cutting mat to ensure good contact without damage to the shimmer paper surface.
3 Carefully remove each cut image from the cutting mat using the spatula.
4 Cut a length of gold wire approximately 20cm long. Find its centre and wrap it around the headband base twice, then twisting the two sides together twice to secure its position.
5 Use the hot glue tool to attach a star to the end of each wire, with the wire sandwiched between; make sure the shimmer side of the stars face outward.
6 Repeat using varying lengths of gold wire to attach the remaining stars across the headband top. Curl the wire to make then bounce!
We love this one, and hope you do too! Don’t forget to check out issue 45 for some more inspiration to make your festive season swing!
