Creative Stamping 72 sneak peek!

Creative Stamping issue 72 hits the shops on 6th June, but we’re far too excited to wait until then to share what’s inside this issue!

We have not one, but two fabulous stamp sets for you! This issue we have teamed up with the RSPB to bring you Coastal Birds and By the Seaside – and we show you how to use the stamp sets together to create beautiful summer seaside scenes with ease!

Not only do you get this stunning A4 stamp set to create gorgeous cards for all occasions, but you can add one or two of the coastal birds and create fantastic scenes. Or simply use the bird stamps on their own. there’s no limit to your imagination!

Working with the RSPB to bring you detailed realistic artwork that’s still so easy to colour, we give you everything you need to create coastal-inspired projects.

We have techniques a-plenty throughout the magazine, watercoloring, masking, mirror stamping and so much more, as well as digital downloads to create even more coastal bird themed cards. Look out for our download post to  get your four digital stamps.

We have a couple of extra cards in this issue, firstly the amazing Paula Pascual created and beautiful Clean & simple scene using two of the birds.

By the Seaside and RSPB Coastal Birds stamp sets
white 5½”-square card blank
white watercolour cardstock
Tonic Studios Nuvo Aqua Flow pens
red baker’s twine
Tonic Studios Black Shadow Nuvo Hybrid inkpad
3D foam pads

How to create
1 Trim a piece of smooth watercolour cardstock to fit the card blank. Use a waterbrush to moisten the paper where the wash of colour is going to go, then apply the colour from darkest to lightest from top to bottom in horizontal brushstrokes. Allow to dry completely.
2 Stamp two flocks of birds in black and the sentiment, leaving room for two larger bird images.
3 Stamp two coastal birds on spare cardstock, cut out and affix to the panel using 3D foam pads.
4 Wrap baker’s twine around the base of the panel and tie a knot, then affix to the card front using 3D foam pads to finish.

We also introduce you to Tracey Hey and her stamping company Alpaca Pals. You can read all about her dedication to both her alpaca farm and her fabulous stamp designs in this issue, but to whet your appetite, here’s one more of her cards.

black cardstock
watercolour card
Tracey Hey Forget Me Not & Mix up Messages stamp sets
Hyacinth & Lavender VersaColor inkpads
Old Paper Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink
ZIG Clean Colour Real Brush Markers
Onyx Black VersaFine inkpad
black fine-line pen

How to create
1 Stamp the elephant using a pale coloured Distress Ink and again onto a Post-it note, cutting out to create a mask.
2 Colour the elephant using the brush markers and a waterbrush, then use the fine-line pen to draw in the eyes.
3 Once the image is totally dry, position the mask over the top. Using the VersaColor ink pads, randomly stamp the tiny flowers so they overlap the masked elephant.
Remove the mask and stamp a couple of the flowers on the elephant’s head as a decoration.
4 Stamp the sentiment using black ink, doodle round the edge and adhere to a black card blank.

Top tip
If you don’t have more than one shade of ink for the flowers, you can create the same depth by stamping two or three times before re-inking – the second and third generation create the lighter shades

We also have a fantastic black ice technique masterclass from Helen Griffin, something I’ve been wanting to try for so long, and now I know how! To create cards with a new technique, check out her feature on page 20.

On top of the 26 projects in the magazine using these Coastal Birds and By the Seaside stamp sets, we have new products and releases from Crafter’s Companion, Stamps by Chloe and WOW! Plus you’ll find all your favourite stamping brands throughout the magazine with a terrific CraftStash discount!

Look out for issue 72 in the shops! Packaged with all the stamps on the front, it’ll certainly catch your eye!

Before I go, I’ll share another sneak peek of what’s coming up next – another one that’s got us very excited here at Creative Stamping HQ.

You won’t believe the amount of stamps we have squeezed into this set, and what our designers have created using them. Not just for planners and books, we have a superb selection of  cards for both men and women to share with you!
