Creative Stamping 92 Sneak peek

On your marks…get set… go!
Issue 92 of Creative Stamping hits the shops on 21st January and we’re so excited to be teaming up with our friends at Hunkydory to bring you this issue full of All Sorts of Sports!

We’ve got most sporting interests covered with TWO brilliant stamp sets. Firstly our A4 stamp set features a dedicated For the Love of Stamps football corner.

Then we also have a brilliant and inspiring set of silhouette stamps with inspiration throughout the magazine for contemporary ideas for all occasions.

Everything you need to create sports and fitness-themed cards for men, women, teens and children is here in one set and we can’t wait to see what you make!

Our Design Team had a brilliant time embracing the sporting theme of the stamps and here are two cards we couldn’t quite fit in the magazine.

First off the mark, is this stunning masculine make from Jane Tyrrell. We asked Jane to look at how to use stamps in backgrounds and we love this idea that she came up with .

You can do it

Materials

All Sorts of Sports & Sporting Silhouettes stamp sets

white 16cm-square card blank

mixed-media cardstock

white, yellow & black cardstock

Squeezed Lemonade, Broken China, Twisted Citron & Salty Ocean Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Ink

Nocturne & Morning Mist VersaFine Clair inkpads

Blueprint Sketch Ranger Tim Holtz Distress Ink

ZIG Clean Color Real Brush Pens

clear embossing powder

ink-blending tool

water spritzer

heat tool

3D foam pads

circle nesting dies

manual die-cutting machine

How to create

1 Cut white cardstock to 14cm-square. Blend on Salty Ocean and Broken China ink. Add a spritz of water then heat-dry. Blend Squeezed Lemonade ink just to the centre to add a glow under the sentiment circle dies. Leave to dry thoroughly.

2 Stamp the trainers, rugby ball and baseball ball on white cardstock in Nocturne ink and clear heat-emboss. Colour with watercolour pens and cut out.

3 Die-cut a white 6.5cm circle and blend on Squeezed Lemonade and Twisted Citron ink. Once dry, stamp and clear emboss the sentiment. Adhere the trainers and balls in place.

4 Die-cut a 7.cm circle from yellow cardstock and adhere the two circles together using 3D foam pads.

5 Repeat-stamp the silhouette stamps in the background using Versafine Morning Mist ink.

6 Layer the circles onto the inked panel then onto squares of yellow and black cardstock, trimming narrow borders. Affix to the card front.

Top tip

Using grey ink for the silhouette stamped background rather than black makes them blend in more and allows the central focal image to stand out

We also love this card by Lisa Robson, from our Clean and Simple feature. Although you could use any numbers on the shirts, we like the topical numbers she chose for this card, it definitely works with the sentiment!

Challenge

Materials

All Sorts of Sports stamp set

white cardstock

white 6”-square card blank

Outremer, Grenadine & Cire Aladine IZINK inkpads

Onyx Black VersaFine inkpad

waterbrush

How to create

1 Using Onyx Black ink, stamp the coat hook and shirts.

2 Press the dye inkpads onto an acrylic block and then pick up the colour with a waterbrush and colour the images.

3 Stamp the numbers onto the shirts in black and add a sentiment to finish.

Top tip

When water colouring don’t add too much water as this will saturate your card and the paint may run out further than you would like. Clean your brush in-between colours to prevent muddying.

That’s all for bonus cards from us for this issue. Look out for issue 92 when it hits the shops on 21st January, or if getting to the shops is not that easy, order your copy online from www.craftstash.co.uk .
